October 2012 MAKERS Blog Archive

Statue of Liberty
Standing strongly and proudly in the New York Harbor, this American woman
has been the icon for liberty and freedom since 1886 -- The Statue of Liberty.

Designed by Frederic Bartholdi, modeled after the Roman Goddess of Liberty,

and completed in pieces, she was sent as a gift from the people of France.
Just like many of our MAKERS, she has gone through a lot and is still standing.
She has weathered storms, lightning, a suicide, corrosion, yet still has
greeted many immigrants arriving to this country through
Ellis Island with grace and strength.

In this piano tutorial I show you how to play "Yesterday" by Paul McCartney
and John Lennon. If you would like a different piano lesson, leave a comment in
the comment section or thumbs up an existing comment to let me know what
songs you would like me to teach you. I can't promise that I'll be able to get
to them but I will at least consider your recommendations.

My free online lessons are made with love and don't cost you a dime so please, let me
know you appreciate what I do by leaving a comment,

I think the song might actually be attributed to Paul McCartney and John
Lennon but I figure "The Beatles" about covers it. One of my favorite songs.
I hope you like it. I'd love to see your version on the piano after you learn it. :)

Yesterday Lyrics:

Yesterday,
All my troubles seemed so far away,
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly,
I'm not half the man I used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me,
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why she
Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said,
Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Why she
Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said,
Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm.

WOW!

11/07/2014 11:00 AM EST

NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman shared this image of Yellowstone via
 his twitter account this morning.
Wiseman later tweeted: "We cranked up our #Soyuz this morning and test fired all
the thrusters. Everything worked flawlessly - ready for a Sunday departure." - @astro_reid
The homebound Expedition 40/41 trio, consisting of Soyuz Commander Max Suraev and Flight
Engineers Alexander Gerst and Wiseman, is counting down to its Nov. 9 departure inside
the Soyuz TMA-13M spacecraft. They are packing gear to be returned home while they
continue science and maintenance on the U.S.
side of the International Space Station.
Back on Earth, the new Expedition 42/43 crew is getting ready for its launch to the space
station from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Nov. 23. Soyuz Commander
Anton Shkaplerov will be joined by NASA astronaut Terry Virts and European Space Agency
astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti aboard a Soyuz TMA-15M spacecraft to begin a
5-1/2 month mission aboard the orbital laboratory.
