Medal of Honor

Army Staff Sergeant Ryan Pitts received the Medal of Honor
today for his heroics during one of the deadliest battles of the U.S.
 campaign in Afghanistan.

As the nation’s highest award for valor was placed around his neck,
the former infantryman said his mind was on his nine “brothers” who
fought beside him and died in that battle.

Smart Life Style Trends | Little Known Mortgage

The Home Refinance Plan Banks Don't Want You Knowing

When homeowners visit The Easy Loan Site™ official website, they may be surprised at the shockingly low interest rates still available today and to learn of this little known government lending program.
One of the best-kept secrets behind reducing your mortgage payment is this government program called the Home Affordable Refinance Plan (HARP), and taking advantage of it now could benefit millions of American homeowners. By refinancing their homes at lower interest rates, homeowners can easily reduce their payments by as much as $4,905 each year. 1
As with most government benefits program, this program won't last long. The good news is that once you’re in, you’re in. If lowering your payments, paying off your mortgage faster, and even taking some cash out would help you,
there is no better time than to act now.
Mortgage rates have decreased this month, but rates may not stay low if the government
changes its economic policy. Act now while rates are still near historic lows and avoid
a potential rate hike.

A true stimulus package for the middle-class

Did you know that the Home Affordable Refinance Program is designed to help
middle-class Americans? If your mortgage is less than $625,000, your chances
of qualifying are high. The Government wants banks to cut your rates, which puts
more money in your pocket, ultimately boosting the economy.
But the banks are not happy about this. Here’s why:
  1. You have the option to shop lenders other than your current mortgage holder
  2. Your home’s Loan-to-value (LTV) may be 80% to 125%
Banks will make more money if they keep middle-class Americans at the higher
mortgage rate that they negotiated years ago, so they are putting pressure on
the Government to reverse this program. "People can really take advantage of
this," Obama recently said in Washington, DC, urging homeowners to refinance
sooner rather than later.1
The middle class seems to miss out on everything, and jumping on this benefit
is a no-brainer. Act fast to refinance your house at these near-historic low
refinance rates. If your mortgage rate is higher than 3.11%, you could be
 saving thousands.
  • The average monthly savings is $250. Could you use an extra $250/month?
  • On top of additional monthly savings, many homeowners could pay off their mortgage faster.
  • Homeowners can now also take advantage of the low rates and their home equity to
  • get a cash out loan for home improvements, pay off debt, a vacation, pay for their children's education.

How much could you be saving?

Here's an example of how much you could be saving by reducing your rate to
3.25% from 6.25% (based on the rate that many homeowners received from lenders
years ago)

What a 3% difference really means

International OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) Foundation - Expert Opinion: Families of Hoarders

What is the BTTI?

The Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) is an in-depth, three-day intensive training course in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for mental health professionals who are treating individuals with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and related disorders. The BTTI was developed to help address the shortage of therapists properly trained in using CBT to treat OCD around the country and the world. The objective was to find a training model and format that was more intensive, comprehensive, and clinically useful than most workshops, but that was also shorter and more accessible than the few fellowships and externships offering training in the treatment of OCD.

The IOCDF Board of Directors appointed a panel to develop the training model that is used for the BTTI. The panel included Gail Steketee, Lee Baer, Fugen Neziroglu, John Greist, and Alec Pollard (Clinical Chair of the BTTI). The format has been modified somewhat over the years in response to feedback from participants, but the basic model remains intact.

For an insider's look at the BTTI, click here to read a firsthand account by Dr. Annette Perot, a recent BTTI graduate.

Who Can Attend the BTTI?

You can register for the BTTI if:
  • You are a licensed mental health professional who currently treats OCD and/or related disorders.
  • If you do not require supervision to see patients- providers who attend the BTTI must be licensed to practice psychotherapy independently. Due to the incredibly high demand for this program, we are not currently accepting registrations from providers who are not yet licensed and/or require supervision.
  • You are a current professional member of the IOCDF. You do not need to be a member to register for the BTTI; however, you do need to become a member if we offer you a spot in an upcoming training and officially register you. Professional membership is $100 per person, per year. For more information about membership with the IOCDF and to become a member/renew your expired membership prior to registering, please visit www.ocfoundation.org/membership/

In order to be notified about when we will be opening registration for these trainings, as well as to receive the registration materials the day we open it so that you can secure a spot, please complete the BTTI Interest List Survey here and select the region(s) of the US and Canada where you are interested in attending a BTTI.
If you have any questions or concerns pertaining to these upcoming trainings, please call us at (617) 973-5801 or email Stephanie Cogen at scogen@iocdf.org.

Who Makes Up the BTTI Faculty?

The faculty of each BTTI is made up of some of the most experienced and well-respected OCD therapists in North America, most of them being members of the IOCDF's Scientific Advisory Board.

How Much Does the BTTI Cost?

The cost of registration is $385 for all three days. This fee includes the cost of continuing education credits and lunch on the third day. When you register for the BTTI, you are automatically registered for CE credits. Cancellation guidelines and restrictions vary for each specific training. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to contact Stephanie Cogen at the IOCDF.

How Can I Register to Attend the BTTI?

Our BTTIs usually sell out in record time (one in less than 90 minutes)! Those on our interest list get the first opportunity to register. To join our list, click here. As you complete this survey, please make sure you thoughtfully select the regions of the United States and Canada where you would like to attend trainings. This is because when we open registration for specific trainings, we notify those who have selected they want to attend a training in this particular geographic area first.

Registration for the BTTI is on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you complete the BTTI Interest Survey, you can expect to receive email alerts from us when we plan to open a training in a location that you selected. Instructions for how to register, and documents needed in order to complete the registration process, will be included in these emails.

Are Continuing Education Credits Offered?

Yes. Continuing education credits are offered for psychologists, social workers, and mental health counselors. We do not offer continuing education credits for doctors, nurses, or nurse practitioners; however, they are still welcome to attend the BTTI. For more information about continuing education credits offered for the BTTI, please contact us at (617) 973-5801.
This program is sponsored by the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), Inc. The IOCDF maintains responsibility for this program and its content. For continuing education certificates requested after the end of the BTTI, there will be a $25.00 processing fee.

For more information about the BTTI, as well as if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Stephanie Cogen, Assistant Program Director at the IOCDF, at (617) 973-5801 or scogen@iocdf.org.
